CPR and Category 1 QI and CPDE activities

Julie McLean, CPD Facilitator Officer - Friday 01 April, 2011

I receive lots of calls asking if we are running a CPR course for GPs and practice staff. CSGPN is unable to offer this particular course, however we have sourced several organisations that offer CPR training on a regular basis. You can access this information via the CSGPN web page for Practice Support. Details of the CPR training providers including location, phone, fax and email are included in this document.

GPs looking for Category 1 QI and CPDE activities – we are running several Active Learning Modules in Mental Health, Aboriginal Health and Hepatitis in the months leading up to and including June. To qualify for the 40 points you must complete the pre and post workshop activities plus attend all face to face sessions. Certificates of participation are posted to all attendees completing all components of the ALM. Please note that project staff running these activities do send out reminders for completion and return of the reinforcing activity, however this activity must be submitted to CSGPN generally within 6 weeks of the final face to face session.

Other CPD opportunities are provided by NPS in hard copy and online. NPS activities consist of NPS case studies (category 2) and Clinical Audits (category 1). GP learning is another online option for GPs you can access this at http://www.gplearning.com.au/.

Finally, GPs and practice nurses please ensure you keep your copies of your certificates for all workshops that you attend as if any activity has not been recorded by the providing organisation this will ensure your point allocation.
