Nursing and orientation training

Julie McLean, CPD Facilitator Officer - Sunday 01 May, 2011

It’s great to see more nurses being employed in CSGPN practices. Please ensure that you let us know when you have a new nurse commencing at your practice. There is a lot of support available for the nurse who is new to general practice and if the nurse is experienced in general practice we like to be able to provide them with information about CSGPN and the services that we provide.

    The process is:
  • Contact Julie Mclean to identify if the nurse role will be acute clinical or CDM based or a mixture
  • I will offer them the opportunity to receive the newsletter and weekly fax-outs electronically and their name placed on the practice nurse email distribution list
  • I will also discuss further training they may be interested in and email relevant links and resources
  • Alex Dolezal will arrange a visit (if required) to discuss IT support. Alex is also able to provide education for the specific practice software (Best Practice and Medical Director)
  • Gabby Pilgrim will arrange a visit to discuss practice support and RACGP standards where appropriate
  • Following this individual project officers will arrange visits where the nurse is practicing within their portfolio e.g. Chronic Disease Management, Diabetes, Immunisation, Mental Health etc.

There is an upcoming face to face orientation training program for nurses new to general practice. The details are: 24 & 25 May 2011 Bankstown Division of General Practice, Rikard Rd, Bankstown.
