CSGPN practices are now entering their second year of accepting student nurse placements in general practice. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive from participating practices as well as the students. If your practice has a practice nurse or you are a practice nurse and would like to participate in the student nurse placement program or would like further information, please contact Julie on 8752 4905 or email jmclean@csgpn.com.au
Nurses please check that you are covered by your practice insurance if you do not have your own insurance. As per the APNA web site: the role of a general practice nurse has expanded to the point that, in certain situations, the nurse is the only healthcare provider seen by the patient. Whilst GPs are responsible for making sure current insurance is in place for them, it is up to the practice or the individual person to ensure they are covered sufficiently. This is now part of national registration which states that - Nurses and midwives must not practise their professions unless they are covered in the conduct of their practice by appropriate professional indemnity insurance (PII) arrangements.’ For the NMBA Professional indemnity insurance arrangements registration standards please go to: http://www.apna.asn.au
