Recalls in Medical Director 3.12

Alex Dolezal, Information Management / I.T. Officer - Wednesday 01 June, 2011

Medical Director 3.12 includes new enhancements to the recall system.

Return urgently recall
A new option in the Add Recall screen which allows you to mark the recall as “Return urgently”:

This allows you to search for “Return urgently” recalls from the Recalls Search screen.

Any urgent recalls are also marked in red both in the patient’s file and the recalls search screen.

These new enhancements make it easier for practices that use the recall system for follow up of investigation results or other urgent recalls by identifying those recalls market as urgent and ensuring they are given the appropriate level of attention.

Adding action to recalls
Follow up actions can be added to the recall and history of actions relating to the recall can be reviewed. This is done either in the recall in the patient’s file by clicking on the “View Recall Actions” or from Recall Search screen by clicking on the “Recall Actions” button.

NB. Every newly created recall will have an initial creation action recorded and any recall letter generated via a mail merge will add a “Letter Printed” action. However, you can also add other methods of contacting the patients from the pick list, eg. mobile phone and include comments, eg. leaving a voice mail message.

This allows easier tracking of any contact made by staff in regard of the recall than by searching the progress notes. Recall actions summary can be printed by clicking the Print button in the Recall Actions window. This is especially important in the case of those recalls that are urgent and require contact by a letter or to prove that attempts have been made to contact the patient a sufficient number of time before the follow up is abandoned.
